The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has been in the process of reviewing the existing regulatory and supervisory framework for microfinance banks to accommodate considerable changes that have been experienced in the Microfinance industry over the years. This comprehensive review has been done in consultation with the industry through consultative meetings as well comments on the consultative papers published on the CBK website.

Following the consultations, CBK has drafted the Microfinance Bill, 2019 which has incorporated the stakeholders’ comments to the extent possible. CBK invites comments on the draft Microfinance Bill through the email address fin@centralbank.go.ke by Monday, June 3, 2019. Read the Draft Bill here…
