The Central Bank of Kenya has published ’50 Years of Central Banking in Kenya: Regional and Global Perspectives’, a book that arose out of the Central Bank of Kenya’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. The book was officially launched on October 14, 2021, at a ceremony presided over by the Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, Mr. John Rwangombwa. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Florens Luoga, Governor of the Bank of Tanzania; Ms. Caroline Abel, Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles; and Hon. Dier Tong Ngor, Governor of the Bank of South Sudan. Mr. Michael Atingi-Ego, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda was also in attendance, as was Dr. Louis Kasekende, Executive Director of MEFMI. The book was edited by Dr. Patrick Njoroge, Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, and Prof. Victor Murinde, AXA Professor of Global Finance at SOAS University of London. The co-editors spoke at the launch, as did Mrs. Sheila M’Mbijjewe, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. For a historical perspective, Mr. Maheshbhai Gheewala, who was a Treasury official at the Bank’s launch in 1966, also spoke at the book launch. The book is available through the Oxford University Press, and also through select bookshops in Nairobi.
